V Hayah International Short Film Festival PDF Print

The 5th annual Hayah International Film Festival will take place from August 3 through August 7 2011. The international festival presents both local and foreign shorts from other competing short film festivals in the Iberoamerican region including Cortopolis Festival and Marfici Festival of Argentina, Digital Cinema Festival of Peru and the Film Festival of Peru as well as from the Film schools of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba and the Film School of Barcelona (ESCAC). This year´s short film submissions totalled over 200 shorts from several countries including Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Spain, Chile, Costa Rica and Germany. The festival also counts with its own distribution platform for the winners of the festival which includes competition in other international festivals.


The opening night of the festival includes a selection of short films from Argentina and will take place at Cinepolis Multiplaza at 7pm.


The shorts can be seen from 1pm on Thursday August 4th and Friday August 5th at the Universidad Latina in their Visual Auditorium located on the third floor and will also be screened every evening of the festival at Cinepolis Multiplaza starting at 7pm. Also available are Documentary Cinema and Alternative Film workshops taught by the Peruvian documentary filmmaker Walther Vera; these workshops will take place at the Universidad Latina from 10am to 11:30 am on both Thursday and Friday. The Panama Film Commission will be present at the University and available for any questions or concerns that the public may have about the local film industry or about personal film projects.


Saturday August 6 from 2pm to 7pm there will be an Awards gala and party at Habana Panama in Casco Viejo and on Sunday August 7 at 5pm at Cinepolis Multiplaza the awarded films will be screened to close the festival.
