Mente Publica & CIMAS Participate at the IV Iberoamerican Congress of Culture 2011 PDF Print

Panama´s Center for Image and Sound and its educational program Mente Publica participated at the IV Iberoamerican Congress of Culture which took place in Mar del Plata, Argentina on September 15-17 2011.


The event this year was themed around "Culture and Community Involvement" and the organizers Plataforma Puente Cultura Viva Comunitaria, a latinamerican collective of art, culture and grassroots organizations, called for the invited organizations to reflect and propose ideas to incorporate into a document that would be presented to the authorities of culture within the Iberoamerican region, international organizations and universites of the continent. This document aims to explain and exhort the need and importance of including Community involvement in the cutlural politics and practices of each country in order to create the budgetary means to support innitiatives of this nature.


Panama´s Center for Image and Sound and Mente Publica presented its work "Cine al Aire Libre" and "Audiovisual Mente" which included grassroots film workshops throughout the country and the successful participation of various comunities within each of the provinces visited.
